Dr. Aura M. Barría obtained her BSc in Marine Biology and her Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution at the Universidad Austral de Chile, Valdivia, Chile. Her research is focused on biogeographic patterns of intraspecific variation in life-history and physiological traits of ectotherms. In her doctoral thesis, she incorporated the plasticity and geographic variation of thermal performance curves in species distribution models to estimate the effect of increasing environmental temperatures projected for the next decades over the range of a terrestrial ectotherm endemic from Chile. Currently, she joined the MUSELS center, to analyze patterns of biogeographic intraspecific and seasonal variation in physiological traits and phenotypic plasticity in intertidal invertebrates distributed along the Chilean coast.
