MUTUAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN MUSELS AND THE COMPANY INVERTEC OSTIOMAR S.A.
In mutual agreement between the Center for Advanced Studies in Arid Zones (CEAZA) and the company INVERTEC Ostimar SA, it was signed the “Agreement on scientific and technological cooperation aimed at evaluating ways to sustainability (environmental and economic) of aquaculture production in the Tongoy bay “; This document describes the future work to be developed in collaboration between the two organizations.
On the one hand, the company is dedicated to the aquaculture of oyster’s North (Argopecten purpuratus), with a mission to develop as a competitive organization, with the skills and sensitivities necessary to interact with their customers. On the other hand, is the CEAZA, a consortium of scientific and technological research in the Region of Coquimbo, which aims to study the effects of climatic oscillations in arid and semi-arid zones and their contribution to the sustainable development of the country .
Because if the scientific nature of CEAZA, there are researchers associated to a research program funded by the Science Initiative Millennium (ICM) called MUSELS, whose general goal is to assess the adaptive capacity of the social-ecological systems in the mollusc aquaculture in Chile by strengthening multidisciplinary research approaches.
Then the agreement is the result of the mutual and overlapping interests with the objectives outlined in the MUSELS program. As well as by the need to generate complementarity between the actions of the institutions mentioned. In this context, it is proposed the development of research to improve business production management by using scientific and technological information and its incorporation in production processes.
